The Spirit of Understanding
You can understand the love of God when you are filled with the Spirit of Understanding. God’s Spirit will give you insight into things that are generally beyond the understanding of the human mind. His Spirit will lead you into all truths, and you will not have to take things literally, but you will be endowed with a more profound understanding.
Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart. And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
Proverbs 3:5 AMP
God says we should not depend on our understanding but seek His will in all we do. God is simply saying, “Do not apply your own limited understanding to anything, but let me give you better insight into every decision.”
To excel in anything, you need understanding. To work effectively in an organisation, you need to understand how the organisation works. The same applies to the Kingdom of God.
I no longer call you servants because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
John 15:15 NIV
Jesus shared all the wisdom and insights that God had revealed to Him with His disciples, right? This gift of knowledge and understanding from God through the Holy Spirit can truly enhance our calling. And, as Paul mentioned to Timothy, it’s so crucial to prioritize gaining knowledge and understanding.
Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things
2 Timothy 2:7 NKJV
Isn’t it amazing how God’s guidance extends beyond just our personal lives? Believe it or not, God can provide insight and foresight on a variety of topics such as technology, science, business, and even things beyond human comprehension. Take Daniel, for example, who walked with God and experienced firsthand how God unfolded mysteries to bless the nation that had taken him captive. It’s incredible to see how God’s wisdom can impact every aspect of our lives!
Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth
Proverbs 4:5 KJV
At the age of 12, Jesus amazed the Scholars in the temple with His deep understanding of the Scriptures. His demonstration of the power of the Spirit of Understanding left His parents and the scholars in awe. It is clear that Jesus possessed a unique wisdom beyond His years.
And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
Luke 2:47 KJV
Understanding is crucial for achieving success and positively impacting the world. When we approach our endeavours with knowledge and insight, we can better contribute to the greater good, so God gets the Glory. May we desire the Spirit of Understanding in our pursuits.
